To the Readers' Forum:
Recently the besieged Lakewood Village fathers did an admirable job in turning down the application for a used car lot on the corner of Fairmount and Fairdale Avenues. Obviously, we're not suffering a want of used car lots. Perceptive village residents assisted with their calls and appearances at the board meeting.
I pass this lot almost daily. On at least a couple of occasions a sound seemed to emanate from within the lot. It sounded like, ''Not a used car lot, please.'' As well kept as such an establishment would be, it still would be incongruous amidst the attractive establishments long in place there.
This centrally located lot with its singular advantage of entrances from two different busy streets destines it as the most advantageous location within our thriving business district. It would serve as the linchpin for the area.
It is aggravating to view this unoccupied real estate and the tax revenues it could generate. In time, however, a more discerning person or party will surface with a business we can be proud of. We afford to be patient. Let's wait, Lakewood. And a hearty no thank you to Mr. Spaac.
