While the annual town of Poland Christmas party was high on the agenda, Kennedy Pride also was looking ahead to future projects during their recent meeting.
Group members discussed projects for Hallquist Park. As soon as the one tree is removed along Route 394, members plan to get a design for a pavilion, so it can be in place for next year's activities. A volunteer still would like to drive a shallow well to obtain water for park uses, but the site will have to be moved.
Several local sign companies will be contacted to discuss designs for new signs to replace the "Welcome to Kennedy" signs. The one at the park would be the first priority. Those attending the meeting felt winter would be the ideal time to study designs and make a selection, so construction could begin early in the spring.
The annual spring fundraiser, the 100 Club Dinner, was briefly discussed. Local residents have already been asking about a date for the event. The group was pleased to hear that the event is already being anticipated.
Due to the holidays, there will be no regular Kennedy Pride meeting in December. The next meeting will be held on Jan. 16, 2013, in the Kennedy Free Library. Everyone is welcome to come, and to present any ideas for future community projects.
