Richard A. Sanfilippo

Richard A. Sanfilippo, 64, of 1 Smith Ave., Jamestown, died at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2012), in the WCA Hospital.

He was born in Jamestown on Aug. 28, 1948, the son of Sarah "Sally" Brigi-otta Sanfilippo of Jamestown, and the late Sam F. Sanfilippo, who died July 30, 1991.

Richard was a 1966 graduate of Jamestown High School and a graduate of Jamestown Community College, SUNY Fredonia and Jamestown Business College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1969 to 1972 as a neuro-psychiatric tech-nician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

He was currently employed at Home Depot as a sales associate and in prior years, he was employed at Sears and Valeo Engine Cooling.

Richard was very involved in world financial news and a daily follower of the stock market. He was always prepared for a pas-sionate discussion about politics and finance. An avid sports fan, he loved the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills. He was a music lover, who spent much of his time enjoying his extensive collection of records and CDs.

Richard was an honest, good and caring man who was deeply proud of his Italian heritage. He will be very sadly missed by everyone, including his canine companion, Georgia.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Susan Sanfilippo, whom he married July 31, 1993, in Jamestown; and a daughter, Amy Chase of Frewsburg. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles: Frances and Sam Greco and Ann and Sam Brigiotta, all of Jamestown, and Mary Bowers of Burbank, Calif. Richard also leaves behind many close cousins including: Carolyn SanFilippo, Sally Matey and Mary DiNapoli, all of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles including Mary Pizzo and Anthony Brigiotta.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. The Rev. Darrell Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Friday from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
