Vernon C. Shirey, 77, of 5041 Waltonian Road, Ashville, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in WCA Hospital.
He was born July 17, 1935, in Greensburg, Pa., a son of the late Harry and Nellie Myers Shirey.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Crawford Furniture Manufacturing. He had also worked part-time for Maple Bay Marina.

He was a member of Celoron Fish Club, National Rifle Association, Moose Lodge, Sun Fish Run Club and Big Tree Sportsman's Club.
He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, who enjoyed fishing with his bud-dy Jim.
Surviving are three children: Vernon Shirey Jr. of Jamestown, Diane (Francis Peterson) Shirey of Ashville, and Lisa (Jim) Johnson of Lakewood; three grandchildren: Jade (Jarrett) Shirey of Jamestown, Matthew (Shanel Newhouse) Overbeck of Ashville. and Elyse Johnson of Lakewood; great-grandchildren: S'miya Kellom, Bryce Kingsbury, Madison Overbeck, Kingston Allen Overbeck and Jaidyn Newhouse; his companion, Marian Boedecker, with whom he made his home; and his extended family and their children: Cindy (Don) Anderson of Jamestown, Vicky (Marty) Meneo of Jamestown, Rich (Michelle) Boedecker of Falconer, Deb (Irv) Doud of Randolph, Chris (Dave) Ingerson of Celoron, Ronald Stevenson of Jamestown, Fred Weaver of Scottsdale, Ariz., Tom Weaver and Evelyn Weaver of Jamestown, Rose Stanton of Frewsburg, and Ursala Signorino of Jamestown.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ralph and Duane; and two sisters: Eleanor and Vida.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Wellman Road Cemetery.
