Fredonia Holds Off Falconer

FALCONER - Dylan Meyer spearheaded a third-quarter run and the Fredonia Hillbillies went on to down Falconer, 63-51, in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 basketball game Wednesday night.

Meyer poured in 27 points to spoil the home debut of Falconer coach Tim Anderson.

Falconer was down, 27-25, at halftime and took a four-point lead before Fredonia went on its run for a 44-35 edge after three stanzas.

The Golden Falcons controlled the boards with Mike Wilcox having 13 rebounds and Nick Conti 11. Mitch Carter and Devon Cameron contributed seven.

Meyer had four 3-pointers and John Piper, who finished with 14 points, added three. Trent Thompson added two and Jon Fletcher one.

Carter led the Golden Falcons with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, followed by Conti with 10 points and Cameron with nine.

Carter and Cameron had two blocks apiece while Conti, Cameron and Travis Nowicki had two assists and Conti two steals for the hosts.

Falconer is idle until meeting Clymer at home on Monday night.

NEW-PENN CHRISTIAN

BETHEL PREVAILS

Jason Kinem and Ben Pratt led Bethel Baptist Christian Academy to its first boys basketball win of the season (1-1) in the New Penn-Christian Conference on Tuesday evening.

Kinem scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Pratt added 12 points and 15 rebounds as Bethel Baptist downed Bethel of Erie (0-2), 45-34.

Bethel Baptist went on a 12-0 run to start the game and never looked back.

The winners held 6-foot-6 center Hibbler to four points while Donikowski had 17 points.

''We won this game on the defensive end tonight,'' said winning coach Dan Steves. ''I am very proud of my guys as they have come a long way in just a month.''

On Tuesday Bethel visits Warren County Christian School.
