Jamestown, words cannot express how we feel.
We are writing to express our deepest thanks for the recent donations of nonperishable food to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The local Council #926 of the Knights of Columbus, with the permission of the Diocese of Buffalo and under the direction of Deacon Fred Johnson of Gowanda, Deacon Mike Lennon of Saint James Parish and Deacon Sam Pellerito of Holy Apostles Parish of Jamestown, organized the packing of over 15,000 pounds of food products and cleaning supplies in corrugated boxes donated by the Jamestown Conainer Co.
This drive was managed by the local Knights with the help of 25 volunteer members of St. James, Holy Apostles and Sacred Heart parishes. They worked Monday through Friday packing the boxes. Generous gifts from donors from the entire Jamestown area provided the financial and moral support needed to complete this mission.
With the faithful financial contributions of over $2,500, the people of the Jamestown area demonstrated a deep commitment in helping the victims in Staten island. Our thanks also go out to the 35 friends and members of St. James Church who helped load the truck. This truck and the fuel need for the trip was provided by Regal Services Co. and driven by Deacon Fred Johnson.
The generous people of the Jamestown area played a key role in our success in accomplishing this food drive. There is no way to fully express our gratitude for your loyalty.
We, the Knights of Columbus and Saint James Church, are continually inspired by the dedication and generousity of those wonderful citizens of the greater Jamestown area who answer to call to give again and again.
