MAYVILLE The vote for the sale of the Chautauqua County Home may not be taking place in December as anticipated.
According to Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards, the sale proposal is being reviewed by potential purchaser (William) Avi Rothner and his lawyer. Because the proposal is still being reviewed, the county was not able to submit it to legislators to be reviewed at committee meetings this week.
Edwards said there is hope the proposal will be ready for legislators to review prior to the Chautauqua County Legislature's meeting on Dec. 19, though it appears the review and debate will be delayed until January. Edwards said the delay will allow legislators additional time to look over the proposal. And, in this scenario, legislators would also have more time to speak with Steve Abdella, county attorney, if they have questions regarding wording of the proposal.
