NASS Seeks Information For Production Survey

December 9, 2012
The Post-Journal

The National Agricultural Statistics Service will begin mailing questionnaires for this year's Floriculture Production Survey.

Producers are asked to return the survey by mid-January. Producers not returning a completed questionnaire will be contacted by telephone or in person to complete the survey.

"The information collected through this survey will help identify state and national trends in areas such as product development and production practices so that growers can make vital business decisions and evaluate the results of the growing season," said King Whetstone, NASS NY Field Office director. "By participating in the survey, floriculture growers ensure that NASS can provide accurate data on floriculture production, thereby enabling USDA and the industry to be more responsive to domestic and international markets and consumer needs."

NASS will compile and analyze the survey information and publish the results in April 2013 in the report Floriculture Crops.

As with all NASS surveys, the information respondents provide is confidential by law.

"NASS safeguards the privacy of all responses and publishes only state- and national-level data, ensuring that no individual operation or producer can be identified," Whetstone said.

For more information on NASS surveys and reports, call the NASS NY Field Office at 800-821-1276.
