ERIE - Heidi Mueller and Matthew Johnson, both of Lakewood, are in the tennis finals of the Pennbriar Winter Classic Tournament starting at 9 a.m. today.
Mueller beat Oksan Omelchenko, 6-0, 6-2, in the first round and then turned back Nicole Freeman, 4-6, 7-6 with 10-8 tie-breaker and 6-2 in the semifinals of the Girls 16-And-Under Singles Division.
Johnson, playing in the Boys 18-And-Under Singles Division, prevailed over Kyle Thomas, 6-2, 6-1, and next defeated D. Marx, 6-2, 6-0.
Ryan Whisner won the semifinals of the Boys 14-And-Under Division by downing D. Pulkuski, 5-7, 7-6 with a 10-8 tie-breaker and 6-1, but lost in the finals, 3-6, 3-6.
