Taylor Leads Salamanca To Tourney Crown Warriors To Title

SALAMANCA - Danion Taylor of Salamanca was selected the most valuable player of the Salamanca Tip-Off Basketball Tournament on Saturday night.

Taylor scored 25 points in leading the Warriors (2-0) past Maritime Charter School from Buffalo (1-3) , 66-58, in the title game.

Consolation honors went to Health Sciences Charter School with a 60-57 win over Gowanda.

Joining Taylor on the all-tournament Team were teammate Jared Fish, Tyree Coble and Warren Mostiller of Maritime along with Aaron Day of Health Sciences Charter School and Chase Williams of Gowanda.

Foul shooting was a key as Salamanca hit 26 of 34 with 12 of 14 in the fourth quarter. Taylor was 6 of 6 from the foul line overall.

Fish wound up with 18 points with 10 of 14 from the foul line and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, whose leader Tanner John was in foul trouble and failed to score. However, John had four steals and four assists in the little time he played.

Mostiller connected for 22 points and Larry Ingram 15 for Maritime, which had four more field goals, 22-18.
