Falconer Repeats At Ike Wrestling Tourney

RUSSELL, Pa. - For the second year in a row it was Falconer that captured the top place at the annual Eisenhower Kickoff Classic wrestling tournament.

And the Golden Falcons won it rather convincingly.

Led by the tournament's most outstanding wrestler, Brandon Muntz, the Golden Falcons took first place in five different weight classes and placed in the top five all 10 of their wrestlers on the way to scoring 227 points.

Erie Central was the runnerup with 188 followed by Jamestown with 182, Eisenhower 180, Girard 168, Strong-Vincent 126, Keystone 97 and Johnsonburg 62.

Muntz won all four of his matches to finish first at 132 pounds while Ricky Griffith won at 106, Jacob Peru at 113, Kyle Ross at 138 and Jake Youngberg at 145.

Jake Penhollow was a second-place finisher at 195 pounds, Jimmy Schwab third at 170, Cody Dustin fourth at 152 and Dan Williamson (182) and Austin Ormand (120) each took fifth.

Mike Southwick of Jamestown won at 160 pounds and finished with a 4-0 record. Among the wins was a pin in six seconds.

Finishing thirds for Jamestown were Cody Risley (113), Emilano Velazquez (128), Mark Conklin (132), Shaq Rahim (152) and Nick D'Angelo (106).

Jacis Blake (220), Adam Gullo (145), Sky Somerton (285) wound up fourth and Brandon Whitacre (170) fifth.
