SALAMANCA - With Tanner John leading the way, Salamanca opened the boys basketball season succesfully Friday night in the Salamanca Tipoff Tournament.
John produced 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists as the Warriors drubbed Gowanda (1-1), 96-56, to advance to the championship at 5 p.m. against Maritime Charter. At 3 p.m., Gowanda takes on Health Sciences Charter School.
The Warriors were red-hot in the first half as they built up a 52-30 cushion with John having 17 points, Damion Taylor 11 of his 21 points and Jared Fish 10 of his 14 points.
Fish had 10 rebounds and two steals while Taylor added four steals and the same number of assists in the win.
Chase Williams sank 15 points and five assists and Lucas Brawdy 14 points and nine rebounds.
