PITTSBURGH - Michael Forrest had his finest game for Jamestown Community College in NJCAA men's basketball action on Wednesday night.
Forrest, who played at Monroe CC last season, played the entire 40 minutes and responded with a career-high 21 points on 8 of 6 from the floor and 1 of 3 from the foul line as the Jayhawks, an NJCAA Division II team, rallied in the second half for a 70-64 verdict over the CC of Allegheny County, a member of Division III.
JCC's Davonte Dunham was the overall leader with 23 points, including 8 of 11 from the foul line where the Jayhawks made 21 of 35 for 60 percent.
After trailing by 35-31 at halftime, the Jayhawks built a second-half lead to as high as 17 points with 7:49 left before the hosts cut it down to six points at the end.
Tyreek Jewell contributed 16 points for the winners, who led in rebounds, 46-41, with Dunham the leader with eight.
Marcus Smith hit 26 points and Matt McKenna 22 for CCAC (2-4).
The Jayhawks are now 7-4 and have won six of their last seven games, including sweeping CCAC. On Nov. 14, the Jayhawks edged CCAC, 74-73.
JCC is idle until playing at the CC of Beaver County on Tuesday in Monaca, Pa. CCBC is ranked 10th in Division II.
