Kathleen A. Nielsen

Kathleen A. Nielsen, 64, a resident of 528 Atlantic Ave., Franklin, Pa., died peacefully, yet unexpectedly, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, in her home of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Corry, a beloved daughter of the late C. Vernon and Anna Mae Gorndt Welch.

Following her high school and college graduation, Mrs. Nielsen had worked for a number of years, until her retirement at the Chautauqua County New York Sheriff's Office as a forensic case manager. She also had taught classes previously at both the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Academy and Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, N.Y.

She was a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge, The Ripley Rod & Gun Club of Ripley, N.Y., Lakewood Rod & Gun Club in Lakewood, N.Y., The National Rifle Association, A.B.A.T.E., and especially enjoyed fun times shooting billiards with her friends as a member of the Franklin Woman's Pool League.

She was married to Carl D. Nielsen, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Gregory Michael Lee Breene and his wife, Tracey, of Clymer, N.Y., and Sarah Elizabeth Breene of Franklin. Also surviving are her stepchildren: Tammy Marie Peterson and her husband, Chuck, of Union City, Kevin Bemis of Orlando, Fla., Brandy Nielsen of Sherman, N.Y., and Christopher Nielsen of Pleasantville; grandchildren: Dion Breene and Olivea Breene, both of Franklin, Jon Breene of Tampa, Fla., Torrie Lasher, Chip Peterson and Chuckie Peterson. all of Union City, Gheddy and Tanner Shatto of Clymer, N.Y., and Stephen Swarm of Corry; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Dawn M. Kin and her husband, Barry, of Clymer, N.Y.; and loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Breene.

Friends may call Friday from 10-11 a.m in the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, Atlantic Avenue and Orchard Street, Franklin.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the church. The senior Pastor Gary Small, officiat-ing.

A luncheon for family and friends will be held immediately following the funeral services in the church's reception room.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry.

Notice of a future time and place of a memorial service in Corry will be announced by the family at a later date.

Memorial contributions, if desired may be directed to the funeral home to help defray the funeral expenses.
