The Jamestown Harmony Express has chosen Lois Blackman as the recipient of the Award of Harmony.
Each year the award is given to a local citizen who has given of themselves to make the world a place of harmony. The recipients of the award have made a significant contribution in their various areas.
The award was presented to Blackman at the recent annual barbershop show. She was heralded for her behind the scenes work with the Jamestown Jammers baseball team. In 1994, she was the founder of the Jammers Boosters, a group that "adopts" the young players in their first experience in professional baseball. They provide housing, including such items as blankets, pillows, sheets and kitchen items. They provide snacks for road trips, picnics and parties. They welcome players families and other guests. The group gives each player a scrapbook for their stay in Jamestown. Her leadership has offered a great service to the many young Jammers players.

Blackman is the owner of Paperback Exchange on Main Street. She also gives books to Jail Chaplaincy, schools and to senior citizens.
