BEMUS POINT - There is a new holiday tradition in the village of Bemus Point for those with an interest in gingerbread houses.
The Bemus Point Inn, located at 4958 Main St., is displaying gingerbread houses replicating local landmarks. This year the candy-coated replicas include the Bemus Point-Stow Ferry, L.S. Aero Marina and the Interstate 86 bridge.
Dave Miller, Bemus Point Inn owner, said he started the tradition of making gingerbread house sculptures 17 years ago when he worked at The Town Club. Now, this will be the third consecutive year he has carried on the tradition at the Bemus Point Inn.

''They helped with the idea of what we were going to make and why,'' Miller said.
Miller said the items replicated were chosen because the local landmarks are celebrating important anniversaries and events. It is the 30th anniversary of the I-86 bridge, the ferry was done because of the bicentennial it celebrated last year and L.S. Aero Marina, the former Lawson Boating Center, is celebrating its grand opening.
Miller said the best part of building the gingerbread replicas is the reaction he gets from his customers.
''One person commented on how nice it was. They said it was better than the one at the White House,'' he said. ''They said I out did myself this year.''
Miller admitted the work is meticulous, paying attention to every detail to create a quality replica. Prior to building the sculptures, he takes pictures of each item before creating the dough. He said this year's project took about 30 hours to complete.
''I try to pay attention to the details. I think it out when molding the dough and then assembling it,'' he said. ''I enjoy doing it.''
For those who want to checkout the sweet creation themselves and enjoy a jumbo homemade cinnamon roll, the Bemus Point Inn is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week.
