City Woman Faces Forgery, Petit Larceny Charges

December 5, 2012
The Post-Journal

A Jamestown woman who eluded area police agencies since June has been found in Pennsylvania.

Alyce R. Valery, 40, of 305 E. Fifth St., Jamestown, has been charged with second-degree attempted forgery, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, five counts of second-degree forgery and five counts of petit larceny. Ellicott police report Valery tried to use a stolen credit card at a Falconer business, but the transaction was stopped because the card had been canceled by its user.

While officers were investigating the stolen credit card complaint, they received a report of stolen checks that were being cashed at a pair of Ellicott businesses. A comparison of surveillance photos from the three businesses showed the same person was involved in all of the unauthorized transactions.

Several arrest warrants were then issued for Ms. Valery, in addition to warrants that had been issued for a New York state parole violation. Ms. Valery also appeared on the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office's most wanted list.

Ellicott police were notified Valery had been found by Corry police officers. After an extradition hearing, Valery was picked up in Pennsylvania by Ellicott police officers. She has been taken to the Chautuaqua County Jail.
