Gravit’s Field Work To Be Completed In Spring

MAYVILLE - Gravit's Field will have a two-story utility building, but completion this year is unlikely, according to Marty Bova, Mayville mayor.

Bova gave an update on the project following a recent Village Board meeting. Bova said the sub-basement is largely in place and is confident the entire project will be completed sometime next spring.

The structure behind the backstop was approved last July and originally scheduled for completion in October or earlier this month. It will house a concession stand, restrooms, storage and a public address booth on the upper floor. All of the costs have been met with private donations.

The village board meeting saw the approval of a Blue Cross/Blue Shield "Forever Blue" medical plan which will be available to village retirees on Medicare. The cost of the supplemental coverage will be $276 monthly, entirely paid by the retiree.

In other business, the board approved a new "call out" policy for village workers summoned to work before a regular shift or after completing one. This generally only happens during emergencies such as a water line break or electrical power outage.

Purchase of two "Arc Flash Kits" for the low-bid price of $1,680 was approved. The items are used to help prevent electrical burns to workers.

Also, the Mayville Fire Department will give away two Christmas train sets as a holiday fundraiser. Tickets are available at the village office.
