SOUTH DAYTON - For the second time in a week, Cassadaga Valley defeated Pine Valley (0-2).
On Monday, the Cougars (2-0) won a defensive battle, 54-24.
"We were a lot more competitive this time," Pine Valley coach Mark Mansfield said. "The effort was a lot better on defense."
Randy Dalaba paced the Cassadaga Valley offense with 17 points and eight rebounds. Mike Lancaster also put together a nice game with 15 points and eight rebounds. Cody Johnson added 10 points.
The Panthers were only down 26-17 at halftime, but just couldn't put the ball in the basket in the second half.
"We only shot 28 percent from the field," Mansfield added. "They just kind of wore us out. It was a very good defensive ballgame."
Lucas Trombley fought for 12 points and seven rebounds while teammate Bryce Jay added four points and eight rebounds.
