Carlton C. Arp

Carlton C. "Curt" Arp, 78, of 1902 Priest Hollow Road, Russell, Pa., passed on Friday, November 30, 2012, at the Warren General Hospital.

Curt was born July 21, 1934, in Warren, Pa., the son of the late Charles Arp Jr and Velma Anderson Arp Osborne. A lifelong area resident, Curt was a 1952 graduate of Warren High School and served four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked in Specialty Metals at GTE Sylvania for 24 years, from which he retired. Curt was one of the founding members of the Warren County Sportsman's Association and a founder of the landowner's appreciation Buffalo Dinner. He was also a past president of the Pine Grove Sportsman's Club.

He enjoyed summer picnics in Ellington, N.Y., where he loved the company of his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and hunting.

Curt is survived by his wife, Sarah "Sally" Lape Arp, Russell, Pa., whom he married on September 14, 1957; two daughters, Denise Arp, Russell and Jeanie Colburn and her husband Kevin, Ellington, N.Y.; one son, Rory "Bud" Arp and wife Kimberly, of Russell; a brother, Dennis Arp and his wife Deanna, of Russell; four sisters: Coral Hoover of Russell, Katherine Risley of Chatham, La., Donna White and her husband Alfred, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Geraldine Lindell of Russell; seven grandchildren: Melanie Farmery and her husband Curtis, Lacey Vosburgh and her husband Eric, Jaqueline Case and her husband Mike, Andrew Colburn and his wife Jen, William Colburn, Nicholas Everetts, and Samantha Everetts; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Claudia Barr and Shirley Shinn; a brother, Thomas Osborne; a great nephew, Ryan Stanton, and his stepfather, Gerald Osborne.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 5, at 12:00 noon, with the Rev. Neil Siefert, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365.
