A. Lynette Norman

A. Lynette Norman, 86, of 1093 S. Main Street Ext., Jamestown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30, 2012, while being cared for at her daughter's in Summerville, S.C.

She will be remembered as a sweet, kind person and a wonderful mother.

A native of Jamestown, she was born April 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Gunnar and Ada Johnson Anderson.

She was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School.

She had been employed by the Jamestown YWCA as a childcare provider and earlier had worked for the James Prendergast Library and First National Bank.

She was a longtime member of First Covenant Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and participated in a women's circle. She was also active in several coffee clubs with lifelong friends, a walking club, and a crafts club.

Surviving are four children: Daniel Norman of Chicago, Ill., Sylvia Gustafson of Summerville, S.C., Laurie Norman of Jamestown and Jonathan (Beth) Norman of Bridgeport, N.Y.; five grandchildren: Michelle Norman and Mark Gustafson, both of North Charleston, S.C., and Christa, Aaron and Anna Norman, all of Bridgeport, N.Y.; and two nieces: Pam Anderson and Debbie Garifi, both of Jamestown.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Norman, whom she married September 11, 1954, and who died September 4, 2006; two brothers: Paul and Kenneth Anderson and a sister, Carol Laughlin.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Covenant Church. The Rev. Adam Rohler will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
