Bernard A. "Barney" Johnston, 73, died Thursday Nov. 29, 2012, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., after a brief illness.
He was born June 23, 1939, in Rochester, N.Y.
Barney was known as a kind man who loved to help others and as a fun loving man with a wonderful sense of humor.

Throughout his life he had many occupations and interests. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. In recent years, he served on the board of directors of Family Services of the Chautauqua Region and was employed by The Resource Center.
Visitation will not be observed and a private burial will be held at the convenience of Barney's family and loved ones.
Memorials may be made to the Resource Center.
