Memory Garden, of the Tanglewood Group, has recently partnered with the University of Southern Florida's Center for Memory C.A.R.E. at the USF Byrd Alzheimer's Institute in Tampa, Fla. Nick Ferreri, president and CEO of the Tanglewood Group, was recently asked to be a featured speaker at the center's one year anniversary celebration.
The USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute is a multidisciplinary facility that provides family-centered patient care, performs research and delivers public and professional education.
One of the presenters at Memory Garden's Alzheimer's symposium in August was Dr. David Morgan, Ph.D., CEO of the Byrd Institute. Morgan stated that he originally felt that individuals who suffered from memory impairment were best treated in their own homes. After visiting Memory Garden's facility, however, he now feels that they are far better off in this type of environment.

Terri Ingersoll, COO of the Tanglewood Group, attended the event with Ferreri and both spent quality time at the McKnight Brain Institute and the Center for Movement Disorders & Neurorestoration at the University of Florida's College of Medicine in Gainesville, Fla. The purpose of this visit was to explore the possibility of taking advantage of the college's expertise through telemedicine.
It is Memory Garden's hope that the marriage between their own social model facility and the colleges' medical model facilities will provide not only excellence in memory care for the residents of this area, but also allow them to ultimately be a part in finding a cure for the disease.
Ms. Ingersoll stated, "We were very pleased to see that their programs shared the same level of compassion for the disease as the Tanglewood Group, and we are thrilled to be a part of their programs."
