Thanksgiving came early on Thursday, Nov. 15, when Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. held their annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Present Center, located in the First Baptist Church. Participants from Chautauqua Adult Day Care sites joined community partners, family members and friends for this feast.
Each year the Present Center, an Adult Day Care Center specifically for older adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia, hosts a Thanksgiving dinner for families and friends of the participants in the program. In addition, funders, past caregivers and dignitaries also are invited to join in on the Adult Day Care family event to share friendship, companionship and thanks.
Many families who are caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease are under a great deal of stress as a caregiver. Coming to the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. Thanksgiving dinner gives that caregiver or family member an opportunity to sit back and relax with their loved one and enjoy a home-cooked meal with their Adult Day Care family.

Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. held their annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Present Center on Nov. 15.
Nearly 100 attendants enjoyed traditional Thanksgiving delicacies including turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, sweet potato casserole, and to top it all off, 13 homemade pumpkin pies. With the help of some community volunteers, the dinner was prepared and served by Chautauqua Adult Day Care's staff and board of directors.
Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers Inc., a nonprofit United Way partner, offers senior day programs for adults 60 years of age and older who live in the community. The agency has four sites that serve all of Chautauqua County. The programs provide socialization and offer opportunities for older adults to participate in activities during the day.
