FALCONER - As people celebrate those who are close to them during this time of year, they also remember those who are no longer with them.
This is the nature of the Falconer community memory tree, which is being hosted by Falconer's Eye to the Future Committee.
"Throughout the month of December, if people would like to fill out a form, we'll be hanging the names of those who have gone before us, as well as those who are still with us," said Jeri Yauchzy, committee member.

Those currently in Falconer, or those who were once from Falconer, who are interested in putting the name of a loved one, alive or deceased, may visit the following stores to purchase a tag to be hung on the tree: the village of Falconer office, Falconer Printing, the Falconer Vac Shop, T.K. Ribbing's and Curves.
Though the tree is currently displayed in the Falconer Municipal Building on Main Street, an official dedication ceremony is set for Dec. 6 at 6 p.m., which the public is welcome to attend.
"The mayor will be present for the dedication, and some members from the (American Legion Post 638) will be present, because we also honor the past veterans from the village," said Yauchzy.
"We really just want to do different events in Falconer throughout the year," said Francelia Skoglund, committee member. "We're new, I guess, so we want to do something that would elicit community involvement and bring the community closer together - so this seemed like a good place to start."
The tree will be on display for the month of December. Guests who wish to view the tree may do so by entering the Falconer Municipal Building by means of the front door, or by going through the Falconer Public Library, with permission, during the municipal building's after-hours.
All funds generated by the sale of tags for the tree will go directly back into the village.
