Lake Erie Shore Explore, Winery Warm-up Is Saturday

November 28, 2012
The Post-Journal

The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be hosting a sunset hike on the shore of Lake Erie on Saturday. The one-hour hike will begin at the Westfield Barcelona Beach parking lot at 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by a wine tasting with cheese and crackers at 21 Brix Winery at 5 p.m. (wine tasting fees apply). The winery is located at 6654 West Main Road in Portland. "The cobbly, driftwood-strewn Lake Erie shoreline is beautiful in every season and in all kinds of weather," said John Jablonski III, CWC executive director. " We will hike to Chautauqua Creek and back and hope to see a spectacular sunset at 4:47 p.m. Participants should expect a strong, chilly wind off the lake and should dress appropriately."

Participants may attend either or both events. Pre-registration is recommended, and there is a $5 suggested donation for non-CWC members attending the hike. To register, participants should contact the Conservancy at 664-2166 or info@chautauquawatershed.org and provide the names and phone numbers of participants.

The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is a private, nonprofit organization with a mission to preserve and enhance the water quality, scenic beauty, and ecological health of the lakes, streams, wetlands and watersheds of the Chautauqua region.
