SINCLAIRVILLE - Members of the public addressed the Cassadaga Valley Central School Board of Education at its recent meeting.
The football boosters were scheduled visitors to the meeting. Lori Johnson spoke for the group concerning the football game played under the lights on Sept. 28.
"Thank you for allowing us a great community night," she said.
She gave details concerning some of the activities. The chicken dinners were sold out. The alumni recognition at the game went very smoothly, and the clean-up was finished. While the boosters were not looking to make a profit, they did donate $500 to the midget football program and a pot of money is being held for things that sports coaches in the district will need.
Board members congratulated and thanked the group.
"We appreciate the effort you put into it," said S. Carl Perry, board member. "It was well-attended."
Jeanne Oag said, "I had a great time. We appreciate your efforts."
Board president David Christy said, "Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the event. You deserve congratulations for all the work."
William Carlson, who had asked many tough questions at the board meetings leading up to approval of the event.
"You did what you said you would do." He appreciated the amount of work that went into the event, although he did note that officials for the game told him they had problems spotting the ball," Carlson said.
Scott Smith, district superintendent, thanked the group for "support of our students."
An unscheduled visitor, Paul Mihalko, former board member, addressed the board about the ineligibility list for extracurricular activities. He asked board members to look at the procedure. His concern was that the grades were not posted accurately or timely.
The board expressed surprise, but Johnson said she noticed the same thing. Neither parent was complaining about the policy. Both just wanted to be able to monitor the grades.
