KENNEDY - Rainy weather couldn't dampen the spirits that haunted the Kennedy Fire Hall during the annual Town of Poland Halloween party. Ghosties, ghoulies, cartoon characters and more joined in the fun. The Town of Poland Recreation Committee hosted the annual event, providing cider, orange drink, donuts and cookies. Candy and prizes were also available as kids played many different games set up around the hall. Spooky music played in the background. It was hard to tell who had more fun, the children or those who watched them.
The highlight of the evening is the Grand March. Participants are divided into different age groups, and judges have the daunting task to choose winners in different costume categories. In the 3 years old and under group, the scariest was pirate Maribella Parsons; most original, fireman Zander Smith; and cutest, angel Andrea Campbell. For ages 4 to 6, scariest was skeleton Matthew Lamphere; most original, blue-haired princess Emma Holmberg; and cutest, purple princess Jenna Hendrickson. Next to parade was the 7 to 10 group. Scariest was Kaden Dove as a zombie; most original, indian Nicholas Oakes; and cutest, gold queen Hannah Cross. The final group was age 10 and up. Addison Dove was scariest as a skeleton; most original was Nicole Caswell as a purple-haired clown; and cutest, Janie Swanson in a red-checkered dress and pigtail.
Everyone left with smiles on their faces, and a tradition for this community was once again enjoyed by all.
