Start New Holiday Tradition With Fenton Center Visit

November 27, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

At this busy time of the year most of us follow old, steadfast family traditions that are dear to us but that can become routine.

I urge you all to start a new holiday tradition this season with your family or with friends. Plan a trip that is magical, educational and will transport you back in history.

Spend part of the day at the Fenton History Center! It is a beautiful museum all year round, but is transformed into an authentic Victorian winter wonderland at Christmas. There is nothing like it in the area.

I am always surprised to find out that many people in Jamestown and Chautauqua County have never been in The Fenton Mansion. Christmas is the perfect time to make the first visit, or to make a return visit if you haven't been there in many years. I promise you will be pleasantly surprised by visiting this jewel that sits so majestically high on the hill in the middle of Jamestown.

So gather the family, or that special group of best friends who get together every Christmas, and meet at The Fenton Mansion. And on your way out, stop in the gift store to buy a unique and special gift you may not be able find anywhere else. You can even buy a membership to the museum for yourself or for a gift.

Support local history and at the same time have a meaningful, memorable, and authentic Christmas experience.
