Ruth A. Hess

SOUTH DAYTON - Ruth A. Hess, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, after a brief illness in the TLC Lakeshore Health Care Center, in Irving N.Y., with her family at her side.

She was born July 30, 1929, in Lancaster, N.Y., the daughter of the late Elmer and Louise (Wiad-trowski) Seiffert.

Ruth and her husband, Robert, raised their family of five children in Hamlet owning and operating a dairy farm until they moved to Shelbyville, Tenn., in 1977, where they operated a farm for the next 30 years, then in 2008 relocating back to South Dayton, to be near family. In earlier years, she was a pro-fessional welder.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Hess of South Dayton, whom she married Oct. 30, 1948, in West Seneca N.Y.; her son, Rodney Hess of Hillsboro, Tenn.; three daughters: Sandra (Kenneth) Cross of Forestville, Linda Logan of Cherry Creek, Dayle (David) Barnes of South Dayton, and Althea (Terry) Libby of Cherry Creek; her three sis-ters: Alice "Sis" Kuras of Lancaster, N.Y., Lucile "Pat" Kaltenbach of Conewango Valley, and Rosemary Eden of Medina, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers: Elmer Seiffert, Robert Seiffert; and her two infant sons.

Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, Route 83 South Dayton, on Thursday Nov. 29, 2012, from 2-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel. Lay Pastor Annette Puleff of South Dayton Un-ited Methodist Church, will be officiating.
