NYSADA’s Board Elects Craig Schreiber Chairman

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The New York State Automobile Dealers Association, a statewide trade organization representing approximately 1,000 franchised new vehicle dealers has announced its leaders for the coming year.

At a meeting of the New York State Automobile Dealers Association's board of directors at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Boca Raton, Fla. the group elected Craig Schreiber of Northtown Automotive Companies in Buffalo as their chairman for 2012-13.

Schreiber is a second-generation automobile dealer, whom has literally grown up in the business. He is a current owner of the Northtown Automotive Companies, which are located just north of Buffalo. The company was founded in 1970 by Craig's father, Norman Schreiber. Today the Northtown empire generates in excess of $375 million dollars in total sales, employs more than 650 people in Western New York, and represents 17 different automotive brands.

Schreiber began working around the dealership at about the age of 13. He has held most every position in the retail automobile industry including lotman, detailer, parts counter, parts delivery, service advisor, warranty clerk, sales representative, sales manager, and general manager. Schreiber graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwood University in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a major in automotive marketing. He became a vice president of the company in 1992 and has been intricately involved with the explosive growth and expansion of the organization, overseeing its daily operations and helping to charter its future.

In 2003, Schreiber and his family were the recipients of the Burt P. Flickinger, Jr. Award in recognition of their dedication, service and community leadership to The Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo. On Oct. 7, 2008, he was inducted into the Kaleida Health Foundation White Coat Society, recognizing and honoring those who provide philanthropic support to advance the work of the Kaleida Health Foundation in support of the Kaleida Health Hospitals. He was a 2009 Time Magazine Dealer of the Year award nominee, and has been a member of the Young Presidents' Organization since 1997, twice serving as chair for the Empire State Chapter. Additionally, Schreiber has been a member of the Buffalo Executive Association since 2007.

Schreiber was elected to the NYSADA board of directors in November 2005. He has served on or has chaired nearly every committee in his ascension to his current chairmanship of NYSADA. He was first elected to the Executive Committee in 2007.

Bruce Bendell, secretary, Major Auto World, Long Island

New York's franchised dealers maintain a multi-billion dollar industry.
