CLRA Completes Its Fall Season

The Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association concluded the fall adult competitive season with regattas in Rochester and Buffalo.

The Head of the Genesee was held on a 5,200-meter course finishing at the Genesee Valley Park.

The men's boat racing in the Masters 4-Plus event consisted of Jim Odrzywolski, Kevin Sixbey, Byron Bilicki, Mickey Sorenson and coxswain Libby Wright and they finished fourth.

In the Women's Masters 4-Plus event there were two CLRA entries. The boat with Nicki Saxman, Stephanie Hall, Ali Odrzywolski, Erin Troester and coxswain Jim Odrzywolski finished third.

The women's team of Colleen Wright, Jan Odrzywolski, Libby Chentfant, Maureen Mack and coxswain Lane Tomassini finished seventh.

The Mixed Masters 8-Plus race boat finished second and consisted of A. Odrzywolski, Jim Odrzywolski, K. Sixbey, B. Bilicki, Diane Paterniti, M. Sorenson, Kathie McCarthy, Diana Meckley and coxswain Lane Tomassini.

In the final event of the season, the club traveled to the Black Rock Canal in Buffalo to compete in the Head of the Niagara on the home waters of West Side Rowing Club. On a morning with temperatures hovering around 32 degrees, the course was shortened due to rough water conditions.

Two boats from CLRA participated in the Women's Master 4-Plus race. The boat with N. Saxman, S. Hall, A. Odrzywolski, E. Troester, and coxswain Jim Odrzywolski finished first and the second boat with L. Chentfant, Jan Odrzywolski, M. Mack, Sarah Thompson and coxswain L. Tomassini finished second to win the Head of the Niagara mug.
