The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York emphasizes the importance of family - with Mt. Moriah Lodge 145 Free and Accepted Masons recently hosting its annual luncheon for its surviving spouses in the Stanley and Sarita Weeks Fellowship Hall in the temple, 3485 Baker St. Extension.
The festive celebration honored 15 widows, one widower and several guests. Each spouse was presented with a hand towel as a gift from the lodge.
Raymond Gordon, master of the lodge, and past master Leland Sperry were co-chairmen of the event. The lunch was served by Donna Gordon, wife ofthe master, and several members ofthe lodge.
Following the luncheon, Jim Johnson, executive director of the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown, spoke about his work at the center and his experiences prior to coming to Jamestown, as a judge advocate during the war trials in Sierra Leone.
