STOCKTON - A Dunkirk man is being treated for hypothermia after getting lost while hunting Monday.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies report Brian Meyer, 55, and Patrick Meyer, 20, both of 781 Deer St., Dunkirk, began hunting in land near Chautauqua Road, Stockton, when they lost their bearings and ended up in a swamp at the edge of Bear Lake. They then got stuck in the mud and water and called for help on a mobile phone. Deputies report the rescue was difficult because of the mud and trees in the area.
Brian Meyer was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital for hypothermia while Patrick Mayer was treated at the scene and released.
The Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team, Stockton Fire Department, New York State Police and Alstar Ambulance also responded to the scene.
