To the Readers' Forum:
Today, someone said to me that Planned Parenthood and the NASA Mars Rover should be cut, and that this would somehow set our economy straight.
Do you guys realize that Planned Parenthood has a federal budget of less than $400 million a year (about 0.01 percent of our total fiscal budget)? Do you realize that about 70 percent of the funds for Planned Parenthood go towards pregnancy prevention (education, birth control, etc.), and that this prevention of unwanted pregnancies actually saves us money?
Do you realize that Romney wanted to give away almost $400 billion annually to the pockets of the very rich (an amount over 1,000 times greater than the total funding for Planned Parenthood)? Do conservatives really understand what is going on? Do conservatives really think that giving all this money to the bank accounts of the rich was a good idea? This is astounding.
Thankfullly, America voted against this.
