The Greater Jamestown AM Rotary Club hosted this year's Group Study Exchange team from the Philippines.

During a club meeting over breakfast at the Marvin House recently, club members, led by Cindy Kay, club president, welcomed the Philippine team, composed of Rotarian Alfredo "Boboy" Campos, a civil engineer, and four young professionals from various fields: Arcie Mallari, founder of Silid Aralan Inc., a foundation that provides an after-school program for underprivileged schoolchildren; Pamela "Pahm" Balasabas, chief inspector with the Philippine National Police; Anna Karenina "Dos" Roque, a marketing specialist for Asus Philippines; and Francezca "Kit" Kwe, a professor at the University of the Philippines.

The GSE team members spoke of their experiences thus far in the 30-day program, which involves visits to sites and meetings with individuals and organizations relevant to their professions. Being avid volunteers for various community service organizations in the Philippines, the young professionals also shared insights and stories about continuing efforts in improving education, health, security and peace in their country.

The Greater Jamestown AM Club created for the team an eventful itinerary, highlights of which were a visit to the Lucy/Desi Museum and a tour of Jamestown Community College.

Funded by the Rotary Foundation, the GSE program is an annual exchange between Rotary districts around the world. It aims to foster understanding and aid professional development through cultural and vocational immersion.
