Bush Elementary School students showed off their crazy socks as part of "Sock it to Drugs Day." The theme day was just one activity during the school's Red Ribbon Week celebration, which promoted and supported safe, healthy lifestyle choices. To help encourage the commitment to the goal, the school held daily themes including "Dress-up Day - Putting Your Best Foot Forward" (coinciding with picture day), "Don't Let Drugs Sneak Up on You Day" when everyone wore sneakers and jeans and "Twist Around Safety," where students and staff signed the giant hallway Twister pledging to lead a safe and healthy lifestyle.
"We gave teachers packets with age-appropriate classroom activities that encourage students to think about being safe and healthy," said Bush Elementary School guidance counselor Gina Cusimano. "Also, everyone in the school received blue, rubber wristbands with 'Twistin' Good Character Respectful, Responsible and Peaceful' to remind them of the overall Bush Elementary School goals everyday."
