Sue Penhollow, Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary president, presided at a recent meeting. Paula Pattison, chaplain, led in prayer, the flag salute, the auxiliary preamble and a moment of silence for fallen soldiers. Minutes and the treasurer's reports were accepted as read. Correspondence was read.
Reports were also given by the chaplain and chairwomen for cancer, children and youth, community service, education, junior activities, membership, poppies and senior visits.
Brittany Woodard, Unit 1280 Empire Girl State attendee, spoke on her experience while attending the program.
Discussion was on the success of the Son's 25th anniversary dinner, Make a Difference Day, the annual vendor showcase and bake sale, the children's Halloween party, the veterans' ''wish list,'' and the Children's Safety Village in Ashville.
Charyle Tyler offered to be chairwoman of the fourth-grade Poppy Poster Contest. Carol Baker supplied information.
Members voted donations be made to the V.A. Gift Shop, Homeless Veterans of WNY and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The 2013 Post 1280 Flag Program is ongoing. Anyone wishing to help should contact Bruce Kaus at the legion post. The cost of the donation is $20, and a plaque will be made.
