Diabetic Seminar Set For Today
GOWANDA - A free diabetic seminar will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Valley Pharmacy, 31 W. Main St., Gowanda. Robin Schenk, registered dietician, and Lauralee Sprague, family nurse practitioner at TLC Health Network, will host the seminar. Becky Dudley, Cornell Cooperative Extension, will offer healthy eating ideas and brochures will be available.
Thule Lodge To Hold Elections
BEMUS POINT - The Thule Lodge, 4123 Pancake Hill Road, will hold its annual election of officers for 2013 Saturday at the lodge. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served following the meeting and elections. Thule Lodge is completing its 105th year in the Jamestown/Bemus Point area as a Swedish organization.
BPU Yard Waste Site Hours To End
The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Yard Waste Site hours will conclude for the 2012 season after Saturday. Hours on Saturday will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Lions Club To Host Dinner
FREWSBURG - The Frewsburg Lions Club will hold its annual chicken and biscuit dinner on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. in the Frewsburg Fire Department's blue building on Hazzard Street. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for children 10 and under, $20 for family. Proceeds will benefit the Lions' Blind and Helping Hand Fund.
Family Health Night Planned
Youth and families are invited to a Health and Wellness Family night in collaboration with Chautauqua Tapestry from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday at the YMCA, 101 E. Fourth St, Jamestown. The event is open to the public. It is free to all children and members, and $2 per adult for potential members. Family wellness tables will be located in the gym with various free screenings and information for children birth through 21 years of age. The event will also include healthy wellness activities, crafts and games. Swimming will be offered in collaboration with the event, also free of charge. Pie And Bake Sale To Be Held
Altar and Rosary Society members at Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter and Paul and St. John Church, will host their annual pie and bake sale on Saturday and Sunday following each Mass.
Princess Party Signup Is Friday
The deadline to sign up for the YWCA Jamestown Princess Party is Friday. Princesses ages 4-12 will receive makeovers from Forbici Hair Designs, create crowns and have lunch. The first session is Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10-11:30 a.m. and the second session is the same day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the YWCA's 401 N. Main St., Jamestown location. The cost is $20 per child and limited space is available. Registrants must prepay to secure a spot. All proceeds will benefit YWCA programs.
