How Blessed We Truly Are

November 15, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

I have been counting my current blessings while going down memory lane.

Does anyone remember darning a hole in the heel of their sock over an inserted light bulb? Did anyone have an outhouse with a Sears catalog?

Grandma had an iron with two bottoms. One heated on the kitchen stove while she ironed with the other.

Homegrown food was canned or stored in the root cellar. Flour, sugar and salt came from the store, although sugar was rationed during World War II.

Do we realize how blessed we are?
