Harry D. “Butch” Abbey

RANDOLPH, N.Y. - Harry D. "Butch" Abbey, 59, of Corbett Hill Road, Randolph, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, in WCA Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1953, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Robert and Dorothy Buvoltz Abbey.

He was a 1971 graduate of Randolph Central School, where he played the trumpet in the high school band and had performed duets with teacher Charles Fox. He also played on the high school football and golf teams for Coach Dan Kartman.

He excelled at mechanical drawing and later he went on to work for MRC Aerospace, formerly (SKF) in Falconer, where he was employed for more than 30 years, retiring in 2008, due to ill health.

He loved traveling, hiking, camping and spending time outdoors. He had been married to the mother of his children, Cindy Atwood of Seymour, Tenn.

He is survived by daughters; Kerri Al-Khazraji and her husband Joseph of Knoxville, Tenn., Candida Abbey of Seymour, Tenn. and Hannah Abbey McKay of Randolph; three grandchildren; Sami Al-Khazraji of Knox-ville, Jacob Fisher of Seymour and Carly McKay of Randolph; a brother, Randy Abbey of East Randolph; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Harry's request no visitation or funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will take place in the spring of 2012 and will be announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY 14772.
