Local Bon-Ton Taking Part In Holiday Fundraiser For Boys & Girls Clubs

November 14, 2012
The Post-Journal

For the upcoming holiday season, The Bon-Ton Stores invites customers to join them in supporting local Boys and Girls Clubs. A donation will be made with every purchase of a specially created 16-inch plush holiday bear, available now through the end of the year.

Since 1990, The Bon-Ton Stores has supported Boys & Girls Clubs with holiday fundraising initiatives that have raised money for local clubs. The bears retail for $6 each and all proceeds will benefit Clubs like the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club in Jamestown. The local Bon-Ton Store, located in the Chautauqua Mall, will be supporting the community children through the holiday bear sales.

"This year's holiday promotion is part of an ongoing charitable partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs," said Brendan Hoffman, president and CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. "The funding provided by this campaign helps local clubs provide safe, fun places for our youth to play and learn. We are extremely proud to support this worthy organization."

Today, some 4,000 clubs serve some 4.8 million young people through club membership and community outreach. Boys and Girls Clubs can be found all across the country and on U.S. military bases throughout the world. They provide young people 6 to 18 years old with guidance-oriented character development programs conducted by trained, professional staff.

In communities large and small, clubs positively impact lives and help young people reach their full potential as productive, caring citizens. Key Boys and Girls Club programs emphasize leadership development; education and career exploration; community service; financial literacy; health and life skills; the arts; sports, fitness and recreation; and family outreach.

All youth activities at the Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown are funded in part by the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County. For more information on any club activity, call 664-2902 or visit bgcjamestown.org.
