To the Readers' Forum:
Anyone who closely followed the presidential race must have seen Mitt Romney take different positions on the same issue(s) depending upon his audience. As ridiculous as he sounded contradicting himself on a regular basis, I don't think he had a choice.
Flawed candidate? Maybe.
Flawed right-wing electorate? For certain.
The extreme views held by the base of this Republican party put any candidate on a national stage in jeopardy. In order to secure the nomination and then attempt to win over the general electorate, he simply had to re-invent himself and his rhetoric.
What extreme views? Amazingly, a large percentage of Right-minded voters Romney needed believe evolution and climate change are "liberal myths." That a sure-fire way to reduce the debt is to take more money away from the U.S. Treasury so the wealthy can keep it. Demanding less spending but all for costly and unfunded Middle East occupations. Small government yet advocate for constitutional amendments to legally impose their version of morality on all Americans. Oh yeah, and that Obama is an anti-American Muslim from Kenya. Those extreme views.
Wake up.
