STAR Swimming is offering its second six-week Competitive Swimming Experience program Nov. 14 through Jan. 4.
The program is geared toward those interested in trying a competitive swim program for the first time and want a shorter season to determine if this sport is for them.
One-hour practices will focus on technique and drill work for all four strokes -freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. The intensity will be dependent on each swimmer's skill level. Starts and block work will also be covered.
The program concludes with a smaller swim meet, designed for the novice competitors, for those who want to participate.
Practices are on Mondays at the Frewsburg pool from 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays at the Jamestown High School pool from 6-7 p.m.; and Fridays at the Southwestern pool from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the 25-yard pool on his/her front and back.
