RANDOLPH - Coffee is the new addition to an already diverse mixture of items available at The Pickle Barrel.
The Pickle Barrel, 133 Main St., Randolph, is under the new ownership of Jacqueline Holmberg-Stewart, who started operating the craft and gift shop Aug. 1. In addition to having items like framed pictures, cookie cutters, quilted wall hangings and candy, Holmberg-Stewart has opened a coffee shop Oct. 1.
"We have specialty coffees, like lattes and cappuccinos; a ton of flavored coffees, like French vanilla, Irish cream and light chocolate; tea; and David Rio Chai, which people really like," she said. "We also have gluten-free baked goods."

The craft part of the shop also includes artistic works, like Holmberg-Stewart's floral and wreath arrangements.
"We still have a lot of pickle items, cheese dips and maple syrup," she said.
To show off the new items available at The Pickle Barrel, there will be a grand opening Saturday, Nov. 17, with gluten-free soups and breads available.
Holmberg-Stewart wanted to operate her own business in Randolph after returning to the area about a year ago after living in Kansas for about four years. A native of Kennedy, she had worked in Kansas as a floral designer for a gift, floral and coffee shop. After the owner became sick, she ran the store for about a year before moving back to New York state.
"I like the idea of bringing people in with coffee," she said.
Holmberg-Stewart said she likes operating the business and getting to know Randolph residents and other store owners. She said Tom and Cathy Congdon, Randolph Retail Company owners, have been helpful.
"They have become good friends, passing on their wisdom from running their own business," she said. "They know the ups and downs."
Holmberg-Stewart also supports other local businesses, like 3C's Catering by carrying their mustard and maple syrups. Holmberg-Stewart said The Pickle Barrel is part of the Amish Trail, which are guided tours of the Amish community.
