Library To Close For Veterans Day

Applebee's Plans Special Meals
LAKEWOOD - For the fourth consecutive year, Applebee's restaurants across the country, including its 340 E. Fairmount Ave., location in Lakewood, will continue its tradition of thanking U.S. veterans and active duty military for their service to the country with a free meal on Veterans Day, Sunday. With proof of service, servicemen and women can choose a free entree from a special Veterans Day menu. Additionally, the first 500 military personnel at the restaurant will receive a commemorative lapel pin.
Post Office To Close For Holiday
In observance of Veterans Day on Sunday, the U.S. Postal Service will close post offices Monday. There will be no residential or business deliveries. Stamps are available at most grocery, pharmacy and convenience stores. Most postal products are available 24/7 at www.usps.com.
Dinner Deadline Approaches
The Carroll Senior Citizens Group will meet at noon on Monday, Nov. 19, for their annual Thanksgiving dinner celebration. The menu will be swiss steak with the trimmings. The cost is $5 for members. To make a reservation, call Mary Himes at 569-6110 by Tuesday. The regular meeting will follow the dinner.
Veterans Day Service Set
BUSTI - The Busti-Hamlet Development Group will be hosting a Veterans Day service at 10:45 a.m. Monday. The event will be held at the Busti Fire Department, 886 Mill Road. People attending the service are asked to arrive by 10:30 a.m. All veterans and members of the public are welcomed to attend.
Speaker Series To Continue
BEMUS POINT - The Bemus Point Historical Society's guest speaker series will continue Tuesday with Scott Lewellen and Wendy Lewellen, son and daughter of Winnie and Mel Lewellen. They will discuss the lives and careers of their parents. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Bemus Point Historical Society and Museum, Alburtus Avenue, Bemus Point. The event is open to the public.
Birding Class Set For Monday
ASHVILLE - The Ashville Free Library will host a backyard birding class at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The class, led by Marge Vollmer, will include topics such as how to attract specific birds; setting up feeding stations, including feeder selection and placement, managing predators and waste at feeders and what to look for in feeding mixes or bird seed. There is no cost, but registration is requested by calling the library at 763-9906.
Two-Day Driving Course Set
FREWSBURG - A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
