MAYVILLE - Jeremiah Burgess, the man wanted in connection with a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred Thursday in Hanover, has made himself available to authorities.

Burgess, of 22 Porter St., Silver Creek, appeared in Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley's office Friday with his attorney and gave his full cooperation. Burgess also talked with investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and provided a statement about the incident.

Authorities were seeking Burgess following a crash Thursday on Route 5 that killed Jeremy Long, 22, of Silver Creek, a passenger in what authorities believe to be Burgess's car. On Thursday, police said the driver lost control of the car on Route 5 where it splits from Routes 5 and 20, and crashed into a concrete abutment in the ditch on the south side of the road.
