A. Ellsworth Lindquist

A. Ellsworth Lindquist (Ellie), 92, of Wytheville, Va., formerly of Falconer, N.Y., Bradford, Pa., Raleigh, N.C. and Granbury, Texas, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Wytheville, Va.

Ellie was born April 25, 1920, in Levant, N.Y., the son of the late Alfred T. and Esther E. Eckholm Lindquist. He was married to the love of his life, Dessa Jean Eckbloom Lindquist, on Nov. 15, 1941, in Jamestown, N.Y. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage together, and were a beautiful example of devoted love.

Ellie was a graduate of Falconer High School and was employed 38 years by Monroe Systems for Business, retiring in 1982.

In earlier years, he was a member of the Levant Wesleyan Church, the First United Methodist Church of Bradford, Pa., and Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh, N.C. Ellie was a member of the following organizations: Bradford Rotary Club, past president; Futures Incorporated of Bradford, Pa., past director; Hannum Home for the Aged, past director; and the Bradford Area Golf Association, past president.

Ellie's life reflected the grace, peace and joy of his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ellie was a wonderful role model, an avid golfer, and a gracious man with a warm sense of humor. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are three sons: Douglas Wayne Lindquist (Margaret Ann) of Granbury, Texas; Bruce Charles Lindquist (Dianne) of Savannah, Ga., Timothy Ellsworth Lindquist (Sarah) of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Martha Jean Holcombe (Paul) of Sugar Grove, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Camp of Jamestown, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, on Dec. 3, 2010; six brothers: Albert, Harold, Kenneth, Morley, Lawrence and Hubert Lindquist; and two sisters: Beatrice Nordlund and Elizabeth Nunn.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home, 44 W. Falconer St., Falconer, NY 14733. The Rev. Robert Carruth of Raleigh, N.C. will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery in Levant, N.Y.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
