Elks Lodge To Host Breakfast

Jamestown Elks Lodge 263 will host a complimentary breakfast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Veterans Day, for all area military veterans at the Elks Lodge, 339 E. Fourth St., Jamestown. The lodge has provided the breakfast continuously for 94 years. Elks throughout the nation pledge that: "So long as there are veterans the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them." To help keep that pledge, a committee of elks will volunteer at each of 172 Veterans Administration medical centers in the United States. The national Elks organization consists of 850,000 members in 2,000 lodges.

Bring-A-Friend Week Begins

The Jamestown and Lakewood YMCAs will host a Bring-a-Friend Week starting Monday through Sunday. All YMCA members can bring one friend at no cost each time they visit either YMCA that week. Guests will have the opportunity to use the fitness centers, pools, tracks, gymnasiums, and attend group exercise classes. Scheduled baby-sitting times are also available. All guests must have a photo identification and sign in to use the facilities. For more information, please call the Jamestown YMCA at 664-2802 or the Lakewood YMCA at 763-0303. Clymer To Hold Wall Dedication

CLYMER - The Clymer Central School District is holding a Veterans Wall of Honor dedication on Monday at 11 a.m. Months of planning went into getting veterans' names from the towns of Clymer, French Creek and Mina included on this wall. To obtain a form and purchase a brick, go to clymerny.com and go under announcements for the forms. The public is welcome to attend this honorable occasion.

City BPU To Be Closed Monday

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Veterans Day. BPU customer service will reopen for business at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Solid waste will be collected on Nov. 12. When BPU Customer Service is closed, customers may leave payments at drop boxes located at the top of the "D" Driveway at the BPU; outside the main entrance to City Hall on West Third Street; inside the vestibule of the Jamestown Police Department on West Second Street; and outside the Town of Ellicott Building, 215 S. Work St. Payments made in drop boxes after hours should be made only by check. For BPU trouble reports at all hours, customers may call 661-1640.

Turkey Party Set In Cherry Creek

CHERRY CREEK - The Cherry Creek Fire Department will hold a turkey party and 50-50 giveaway at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Cherry Creek Fire Hall. There will be turkeys, hams and other prize giveaways. Refreshments are free. The public is welcome to attend.

Fall Gun Giveaway Set For Saturday

SHERMAN - The Sherman Stanley Hose Company Fire Department's 24th annual fall gun giveaway and party will be Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m. The event takes place at the Stanley Hose Co. Community Hall, 122 Park St., Sherman. Tickets may be purchased from any member of the Stanley Hose Company, Sherman-area businesses or at the door.
