WESTFIELD - Claire A. Post, 82, of the Sherman- Westfield Road, Westfield, N.Y., died Tuesday, morning Nov. 6, 2012, at St. Vincent Health Center, in Erie, Pa.
Claire was born March 9, 1930, in Union City, Pa., the son of the late Claire Anson and Florence (Hall) Post.
He was a graduate of Corry Area High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to IBM Technical training in Endicott, N.Y., to learn computer repair and programming. He served honorably from 1948 until his discharge in 1952 as a technical ser-geant first class.

When his enlistment was over, he returned home and worked in the computer departments of Sylvania Corp. in Warren, Pa., and then Welch Foods in Westfield, N.Y. Simultaneously, he attended Gannon College in Erie, where he earned his bachelor's de-gree in Business Administration. Well respected in his field, Claire had been employed by various companies in the emerging data processing profession, most recently for DSA of Erie, and retired in 1992.
He was an avid card player, who enjoyed cribbage and poker as well as bowling. Claire was a member and past president of the Chautauqua Lake Region Antique Automobile Club and enjoyed tinkering with his antique cars.
Claire was an accomplished trap and skeet shooter, and was a life member of Westfield Fish and Game Club, where he participated in several skeet and trap leagues. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He held memberships in the NRA, the Jamestown AMVETS, the Mayville American Legion Post 0493, the Wm. P Jackway Veterans of Foreign War Post 6764, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 118 both of Westfield and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy M. (Crump) Post, whom he married on May 5, 1956, in Westfield; his son, Vern (Sue) Post of Mayville, N.Y.; and three daughters: Carol (Dan) Greco of Jamestown, N.Y., Gail (Larry) Jackson of Sherman, N.Y., and Marie (Eric) Edwards of Westfield, N.Y. Claire was the proud grand-father of: Vern (Janelle) Post Jr., Andrew (Loraine) Post, Amy Post, Dan "DJ" (Heather) Greco, Michelle (Glenn) Giles, Stephanie, Nathan and Gregory Jackson, Rachael (Daryn) Coon and Derek (Brittany) Edwards. Claire is further sur-vived by 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce (Robert) Newton of North East, Pa.
Friends may call at the First Presbyterian Church and Society of Westfield, 49 South Portage St., Westfield, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, from 1 p.m. until the time of services there at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Morse officiating. Claire's family will continue to receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the ser-vices. Burial will be private.
